Battery design

Turn bike measurements into battery space

A practical workflow for the photo ruler, enclosure outline, and cell-layout tool.

Set scale independently

Use a side-on reference photo and a known measurement in the same plane as the intended outline. Place the two ruler points, then enter the measured distance in millimeters. Perspective and lens distortion can affect a photo, so verify important dimensions on the bike.

Draw the space you can actually use

Trace a polygon, or enter an exact rectangle. The orange ruler stays independent when the outline changes. Enter available depth separately and reserve clearance for the enclosure, insulation, interconnects, mounting, and access.

Compare layouts

Choose cell dimensions, series and parallel counts, and a spacing pattern. Calculate alternatives and inspect each series interface, not just the total number of cells. The direct-contact count describes neighboring cell pairs; it does not establish a current rating.

Keep the result attached to the bike

Download the battery project and attach that JSON file to the bike planner. The attachment is a snapshot, so later changes in the battery designer do not silently change the bike plan. Reattach a revised file when you choose a new design.

Know the model’s limits

The current designer supports one layer with cell axes perpendicular to the outline. It checks geometry and group connectivity. Pack construction, busbar dimensions, thermal behavior, insulation, and external wiring need separate engineering decisions.
